If I only had $15-30 to spend, what lures or soft baits would you guys suggest for purchase? I'm going for mostly bass and panfish. Anything that can catch multiple species actually. Any help?
@asianwannabeamerican: Sorry I haven't been active. I recommend small tubes on #8 jigheads, weedless micro-rigs, or small spinners if you want to get both with the same rig. And nothing is as consistent as piece of crawler on a number 8 or 10 hook...also get you the occasional bass. Light line is a big plus, careful presentation and avoiding scaring fish with the shadow all add up to a better trip. Good luck!
@rNdDynamikkDuo I have a lot of trouble trying to locate crappie and catching them. I can only fish from shore so how what types of tactics would bring me more success? I obviously don't have electronics to find them, so where would they be? And what are consistent lures for those other than the ones you mentioned? And do you fish for them the same way you do for sunfish? the same way for bass? or some mix of both methods?
@asianwannabeamerican: I'm not going to lie; my crappie catches are largely incidentals while fishing for bass or sunfish. That being said, the times I've targeted them I've done well on small (2.5 inch or less long, skinny) live minnows fished under a float on a light #6 hook. Again, stick to light line; 4 lb test is a good bet. The crappie rig mentioned above will catch some bass too.
