A rather obscure advert from Activision from 1986 promoting their (quite frankly crap) ports of Sega arcade games, Enduro Racer, Quartet and Wonder Boy. to the UK 8-Bit Home Computers.

Also note they use the arcade machine's music and sound effects over the 8-bit footage. Misleading advertising anyone?

  • whoa, the kid at 2:04 has a major facial tick.

  • @Snotlingfondler Wow, I never noticed that before, I just thought he was pretending to really get into the game :D

  • It's really good to see you back on YouTube Larry, been too long :) Keep up the great work. Looking forward to GYCW, will you do any more retro corner videos also?

    Thanks.

    Ian (ianwuk)

  • @ianwuk Well they're the same thing really, but I'm hoping to get the retro corner sponsored.

  • Please post more videos like this Larry! It is great to see you back with new material. I remember Activision did Afterburner on the Amiga, I quite liked that, especially the music, and it was better than US Gold's version of Outrun!

    All the best.

  • @ianwuk Will do, I've been stuck in a rut for a while, but as soon as I have my Halloween GYCW episode out of the way I'll be doing proper videos again!

  • Did this video even have a budget? It looks like the only thing they'd have to spend money on is the butcher's paper to draw the crap arcade on! They could bribe the kids with free (but mostly crap) games, they had the computers already and I assume they had the Wonder Boy figurine handy, it seems an odd thing to have (and is probably highly collectable now)...

  • @LarryBundyJr haah I wasn't sure myself... but I've been watching alot of I, claudius so for some reason it stood out to me XD.

  • @LarryBundyJr What's wrong with just producing it for TGWTG and Blistered Thumbs?

  • Glad you mentioned misleading advertising, do you remember on the back of c64 and even Speccy games that had screenshots from the Amiga/Atari ST versions then in tiny smallprint it would say which console/computer the pictures were really from?

  • damn you darren!

  • @LarryBundyJr Like I say, it was one of those four-way ones like X-Men or TMNT2 (Wait, sorry, TMHT, no ninja's here, nosir!). It was pretty great unless you were playing as the green or yellow guys since you had to look at the screen side-on and couldn't do much. A shame, because green player (whose name I want to say was Eddie?) was the best.

  • This is just.....just......stupid I bet it gave the kids nightmares and the boys in it probably where kept in a mental asylum for the rest of their lifes :0

  • That kids so poor, he can only afford to look at pictures of arcades
