@CoachAlex1996 The red destination blind signifies the now non existing "red line" where trains ran from Pelaw-Benton. Don't think it was just peak time services either, if i remembered correctly, they ran all day from Pelaw-Benton and back again.
lovely livery colour -this was the colour of Newcastle transport -maybe thats why they changed-not to upset other boroughs and the strange place on the Wear.
Its time the system was extended to run on the Tyne Valley line to Blaydon.
Blaydon should become a bus "hub" feeding an enlarged station

Wow, that is an old style Metro.
and it's terminating at Benton!
(I am aware that if you're not from the area that'll mean nothing to you!)

Prototypes 4001/4002 delivered in 1975. They were used on the Metro test track, and then stored and put into passenger service in 1985.
4001 now has its original 1975 livery whereas 4002, last time I saw it, had the colour scheme of the old Metro website.
The prototypes have a number of differences to the later built units, such as the doors.
I assume they have to use the protos as the front carriage too, as there's no way of turning them around at Airport etc!
