@raywhiteusmc for the same reason someone would choose to play a violin over a cello, same basic princliple but that person would prefer the sound/feel/playing style of the violin.
the bass just works for me, as it does for many other people. and if someone gives you hate for asking a legit question, screw em lol
I know I'm gonna get my ass kicked for this one but here goes. Bass looks super easy (and kind of boring) compared to guitar but I see magazines and How-to-DVD's and all kinds of praise for bass players. What makes it so fun? I understand why bass is important but why do people like to play it? Personal preference, maybe? I dunno. Thinking about trying it though.
@TPNetro12 If you like using a pick, use a pick. I probably would've learned using fingers, but I tought myself when I was obsessed with Nikki Sixx and he ALWAYS uses a pick, but if you like using both, go ahead. Saying you have to use fingers is kinda like saying you have to hold a tuba by the front tubes. Sure it may be "proper", but it doesn't really effect your skill. :D Keep rockin' the bass! It's the best thing ever! BTW: You have pretty good English for having Spanish as a first language!
Every song can be played without a pick just the same as with a pick. Don't limit yourself with such thoughts. Granted, playing a song like this will wear your nails and finger tips out but it's possible. The pick is just a substitute for your bare fingers, hold your fingers together like there's a pick, pretend your holding a pick in a semi acoustic fashion, its all the same as if you were holding plectrum. Thanks for the upload, awesome playing.
@LivingForBass man, i'm gonna repeat, this is MY opinion, i'm not forcing anyone to agree, right? Look this bass solo, without pick, and tell me what you think. /watch?v=xkofqtSDTms
@KingOfKhaos1991 Yeah I get that. I "feel" the guitar. It works for me but I love the power of a bass so I'm gonna try it. Thanks.

@SudoMade No. A pick has a very distinct sound if you do it in a certain way that your bare fingers can't possibly imitate.
