i watched a documentary on orchestral instruments and it says that you have to blow air at about 1.75 the speed of a flute. their is only a slight difference in the flute/piccolo and once you get it down, its easy to play it.

maybe there's more people in america watching youtube than other countries? So that's how there are so many from the U.S.?
Also if you look at the winners for the violin section alone, you'll see that the first three are from america, and the others are from all different countries (indicated by their flags)

since im a brass player i dont know much about winds, but does the wooden piccolo sounds richer and fuller than a metallic piccolo? thats what ive noticed. im just curious.

you are completely right! you get a much sweeter sound on piccolo if it is made of wood!
