This is me playing a Portuguese Tuna song called Arabi. I got this mandolin about 1 or so ago, and I've been learning pretty good. Enjoy!

  • @bigblackmamb Yes there is an instrument in Ecuador which is similar but with more of a pear shape and with the same name. The tuning is basically the same as the guitar but if you were to leave out the last bass string of the guitar. There are "alternate" tunnings also though.

  • Beautifully played !,

The mandolin is an instrument that was given to us Portuguese by the Moors ( Moraccan & Arab) as well as the lute, guitar, castanets, harp, and violoin, a lot of our music is influenced by them

  • @Irishd180 yea of course. the mandolin itself was $650 but with case and shipping, it came out right around $800. but this was a little over 2 years ago so it might be a little more now. being Portuguese and being around a lot of festivals and playing and seeing other mandolins. Mine is by far the best one...not trying to brag but the way i see it is you get what you pay for and i paid quite a lot for a small guitar but way worth it.

  • @Alwayzsmiley03 Looks nice, do you mind me asking how much you paid for it?

  • @Irishd180 i got my mandolin off of Folkreps on ebay. they have various Portuguese instruments but I don't know if they have any more like mine.

  • Where did you buy your mandolin? Do you have the makers name or brand? I have an instrument very similar which I bought on holidays in Portugal about 5 years ago.

My bridge tail piece and inlay are almost identical
