  • Thanks for all the great comments... and whether or not I've got (or God!) the lyrics right, I always enjoy performing this song...

  • Its God what I've paid for now. Not I've got what I've paid for now.

  • Thanx for the comment, but this is the Rod Stewart version which is definitely "I've got what I've paid for now". I've listened again to Tom's original and I can't find God in that one either!

  • also i would love to hear Rhythm of my Heart or Motown Song cover since nobody on youtube has done those and they are his two best i think! i know theyre not depressing, but im sure you could pull it off :D keep it up

  • I was gonna sing that one too. I found a playback and by coincidence your great rendition. Wonderful. Very emotional.

I loved it. Keep it up. Cheers. André :-)

  • I like this version and your voice

  • Nice cover, mate.

But I also have to say, Holy shit! You look like you could be Jemaine Clement's brother. The likeness is uncanny!

  • @cassygh

your words so right... I think even so...

  • Great cover of one of my favourite songs. You sang it with feeling, as it should be sang..."and a wound that will never heal"...I think everyone has one of those, if you haven't, you aint lived!! God bless

  • @andyp909 No Problems mate we all make mistakes :)

  • @beatlesforever997 Ok I was wrong. I have a live recording where it really sounds like "God what I paid for now". The studio and other versions it is clear its "got what I paid for now".

  • @andyp909 it's "got what i paid for now" in both i have a offical tom waits sheet music book her with lyrics and it's "got" not god

  • @andyp909 Sorry to say that you're wrong... it IS I got what I've paid for now...

  • I like this version , probably the best one that I have heard. Thank you!
