  • My horse doesn't have a left eye, and therefore can't see on that side, so should I only lunge her on the right side? Or will she be fine if I lunge her both ways even though she won't be able to see me?

  • @RascalFlattsFan5 It requires more skill, but you can lunge without depending on any visual cues and rely instead upon the horse feeling the aids through the lunge line and by your voice. Often horses who are partially or completely blind are easiest to transition to this because they rely on touch and hearing more than a fully sighted horse - just like people.

  • i'm a bit new to horse training and am confused by what you mean by "under tracking". is he just going slower, or is something different with his gait?

    thanks (:

  • If you watch all the videos in the series you'll see that I explain what undertracking and overtracking are. You can also read about it on my blog which there is a link to in the video description. :)

  • I have a new young horse that I used to lung every day, however, he started to come into the center of the lung circle and be agressive with me with his hands, and when I tried to get rid of him making noise withthe whip, He kicked me.

How can I do to make him go out in the circle without being attacked? I feel the situation is overwhelming.

    Thank you for your help.

  • I would recommend you look for some professional help, anytime a horse becomes aggressive and you are unsure of how to handle the situation you are putting your life in danger.

Please let me know if you need any assistance in finding a trainer in your area. :)

  • Thank you, I will. However, I started lunging my horse at the place it is used to do free jumping (do not know the name) and he cannot became next to me or kick me since there is a gate all around me. I feel I am gaining confidence and retrieving control.

    Thank you!

  • Many times there needs to be a transition for the horse between leading and lunging. You might have to start by being very close to him on the lunge - more like you would if you were going to lead him, and over time build distance. This will help you maintain control/contact with him and will give him a clearer understanding of what it is you want from him as he begins to learn being lunged.

  • Hi, i really appreciate your lungeing videos as i'm finding my 4yr old tb quite challenging to lunge. i have to lunge him in an open space as we dont have a school and the problem i keep having is that instead of moving in a circle he will cut in close to me one side and then pull out the other side but i think i am losing control of him slightly. It makes it hard to keep a steady contact and if i ask him to stay out into a contact with the whip he will react by either stopping or speeding up? x

  • great video!! i'm so impressed with the way you teach and the words you choose. please keep doing your videos!!!!!
