Sally Ride Science Festival held at SMU Campus in Dallas on April 26, 2008. Meagan Pollock and Amanda Brown presented on behalf of Texas Instruments and the DFW STEC at the afternoon workshops. Their presentation was entitled "How to fit a Ham Sandwich into your IPOD." They instructed the two classes, each of about 25 students, to build a transistor out of the components of a ham and cheese sandwich. The youngsters were challenged to learn the role of different types of engineers as they manufactured and processed their sandwich transistor.
