Swiss band ELUVEITIE wins 'up & coming' award from german's METAL HAMMER magazine at Wacken 2010. Singer Chrigel Glanzmann receives the award on behalf of the band from Schnmier (Destruction).
I never said Eluveitie was the only band that did that. Where did I say that? Also, harder than I think? Yeah sure, I'm a musician myself, I know how to write a song. None of your points have any constructive in them whatsoever. It's not that difficult to write lyrics if you're fluent in the subject you're writing about. I find they just come to me as soon as I arrange the instrumentation. Bearing resemblance is okay, stealing is not.
@Kilgorin10 You try writing a tune amazing as Kid On The Mountain.
It's a lot damn harder than you think.
Besides. You think Eluveitie are the only band out there to ever borrow tunes from other people? You'd be fucking stupid if that was so.
It's hard to write lyrics, and even harder to write an original song that bears no resemblance to any other songs out there. You try it and see how far you get before someone goes "Oh, that sounds like (enter name song here)".
@DanniiYoung656 I don't see the relevance of your personal fanboyism here. Point is, they stole it - what the original person who made it feels is irrelevant, it's the fact they have almost no creativity whatsoever and just randomly choose a folk instrument to play it and put it into a generic metalcore song structure.
@Kilgorin10 I'd love to see you appear on a bands album, mate.
Oh yeah, 'cause Eluveitie REALLY know the name of the person who wrote Kid On The Mountain. And if you actually took the time to go onto Eluveitie's forums, you'd see a thread where Chrigel explains that they borrow old celtic songs and use them in their songs. So, I think you'll find that Eluveitie DO give some recognition to what tunes they use in their songs.
And like I said. These tunes were written hundreds of years ago.
@DanniiYoung656 Pfft, you did a speech, I'm impressed. Very impressed.
Stealing doesn't imply it's copyrighted at all, it implies someone else made it and Eluveitie are taking the credit for it without even crediting the original artist. I don't care if other bands do it, it doesn't make it right. Other people kill people, so obviously I can do it too! Copyright means you can't get sued for it, but it doesn't mean that it instantly becomes yours. Damn, you're ignorant.
@Kilgorin10 I don't just know them, asshole. I was on their new album, the voice you hear on the very first track.
And "stealing" implies that those Pagan melodies are copyrighted. They ain't. They were written hundreds of years ago, before copyright was even invented. And Eluveitie aren't the only band to use old Pagan melodies. Just look to Faun for that one, asshole.
@DanniiYoung656 Oh and also, you do know that all Eluveitie do is steal old pagan melodies, change around a few notes, do eenie meanie miney mo to select which "uber cool and trendy folk instrument" should play it and add power chords, right??
Eluveite deservs that price, they are kickass and amazing!

@Kilgorin10 (c) If I'd written one of those tunes, I'd be flattered that it was being used in songs by bands like Eluveitie and Faun.
