  • One of the reasons that Ali so easily outclasses her competitors is that her training is much more intense then her fights. Her sparring partners are all pro. male boxers that are her size or bigger (she insists on it). When she is in the ring in an actual fight her opponents are smaller, weaker and less skilled - so she cruises to a victory.

  • @TheLydianRocks And what are you trying to say?! Just because Laila Ali is a Woman that any "Joe Blow" can knock the shit out of her? Why don't you step in the Ring with Laila Ali if you think it is that easy to knock her out! How about if you keep your Sexist Comments to yourself!

  • @lynn125lynn She learned that strategy from her father. He avoided all the legitimate contenders, toward the end of his career. Take nothing away from his skills, but he was too lazy to train hard enough for the top notch fights.

  • @westulsalbatic - All I'm saying is that having an intense training regimen really helps. The reason Laila spars with males is that there are not as many female sparring partners that can match her for size and strength. If you train at a very high level and intense level, the actual boxing match becomes easier - your conditioning is better, the opponents are smaller and weaker (compared to sparring partners) and fatigue is less of a factor. She is also blessed with her fathers genes.

  • @TansuTansu2 if she does that,if she has male sparring partners that is tellin u one thig..she got hart she is brave and that's why she is that good

  • I'm wishing for Laila to just knock out that soviet chick Natascha Ragosina. Send the barbie doll back to the cold fucked up.

  • Shelly is my boxing coach and is teaching me very well starting at 14 years old

  • I like how all of you are bad mouthing Shelley Burton. She did a great job and for any of you who think she isn't tough, I dare you to get in the ring with her. The fight was rigged from the get go. There was NO way they were gonna let some Montana girl outbox Ali.

  • I tend to believe this wiki post states. "...Other top women's boxing champions such as Ann Wolfe (24-1), Vonda Ward (23-1), Leatitia Robinson (15-1 pro; 37-1 am), and Natascha Ragosina (22-0) have claimed in interviews that they have challenged Ali many times over the years, but Ali found ways of avoiding them. Boxing writers and fans have repeatedly expressed disappointment in Ali's ducking the top contenders throughout her career..."

  • Laila Ali usually has a decent size advantage over her opponents (Check out the Christy Martin fight. Looked like she was two weight classes above Martin). You see it here clearly. She is much taller than Burton, and looks to outweigh her by 10 or more pounds.

That being said, she does have legitimate boxing skills and a good trainer in Floyd Mayweather Sr.

  • @TansuTansu2 WRONG! she has the blood of the Greatest Of All Time running through her veins, thats why she's the Best!

  • Definitely has her father's footwork.
