This is an old 1972 Dodge LVT-1000 That has not run in many years. It is powered By A Detroit Diesel 8V-71. Dodge semi trucks are vary rare these days. This one needs a lot of work to run the highways again.

  • Dodge came out with this design around 1964. All Aluminum. Ford had a cabover very similar, but different. Hopefully the REAL experts will chime in on this subject.

  • It needs a LOT of work. The guy I sold it to, will have his hands full. I hope I get to see it in better shape someday. I am the one that saved it from certain scrapping from an old trailerpark that was about to be removed and this was in a junkpile in back. It lives somewhere in the Pasadena Ca. area now.

  • With California's new smog laws coming soon, and my funds reduced these days I had to sell it. In fact this video was made for potential buyers. Many made empty promises. I finaly had to give it away. I think it went to a good home. I did save it from certain death though. I feel good about that. The only old big rigs I own now are plastic models!

  • It was used as a heavy equipment hauler when new, pulling break apart lowboy trailers as a tractor.

  • I saved it from certain death in an old boneyard behind a closing trailerpark. The man who owned it ran it hard as a dumptruck hauling anything you can imagine. After he died his widow had hired help running it to destruction. The front axle is bent. Then it was put out to pasture. That was around 1986. It was full of all kinds of nests and crap. the windows were busted out and both instrament panels were cut out. The headlights and bezels were gone as were many other parts.

  • Thank you Sir for saving this truck! I sure hope that the new owner will restore it. This is the first video with good detail I've seen of these trucks. Interesting to see how many parts are shared with the Dodge car and light truck lines. Thanks again for posting it!

  • is this actually a dodge cab or is it a rip off/copy of another manufacturers cab design
