The Presidential Fleet
Featuring President Obama and Air Force One
PLEASE READ BEFORE COMMENTING ON THIS VIDEO

2009 Joint Services Open House
Andrews AFB, Maryland
Sunday May 17, 2009

IN THIS VIDEO, a ramp freeze went into effect and all of the flying that I got during the ramp freeze can be seen here. President Barack Obama was scheduled to fly out to Indiana to give a speech at Notre Dame's commencement ceremonies. You see (if at all possible) military police lining the ramp, all armed with M16 high-action rifles. The first of the VH-3D Sea King helicopters was the one that flew under the callsign of MARINE ONE (again, to the best of my knowledge, and the real truth to that is only on a need to know basis). You will get to see the VC-25 depart for Indiana, followed by two more VH-3Ds - who flew under the callsign of KNIGHTHAWK flight. A C-32 also departs, using the callsign of SAM 91. I apologize for having to insert a bit of censorship because one of my friends decided to poke some fun at me while I was shooting video, and it really didn't belong in the video.

Like what you've seen? If you are interested in purchasing DVDs of specific aircraft and/or of airshows, interested in anything and everything related to airshows (where the jet teams will show up, all airshow performers, airshow reports from airshows I have attended, previews of airshows I will be attending, etc.), a much more easier to navigate "version" of all of my videos, and/or everything there is related to aviation - including spotting guides to my favorite airports and military bases and aircraft factfiles, please take the time to check out Steve's Airshow World at http://www.stevesairshow.com .

  • Wow you got probably the best view anyone ever has had of AF1 departing.

Was security HYPED UP to get into the show Steve?

  • Can't speak for security being hyped up because I don't know.

  • What a cool thing to see at a show. I don't supposed you had any prior knowledge of this occuring did you? Not something you're likely to see very often!

  • I knew Obama would be going to Notre Dame but on Friday, didn't know when. Found out late Saturday night that he was going out there on Sunday...

  • I wonder when that 747 200 will ever get upgraded to something newer.. 400? 800 i mean come on thats a vary old model...

  • awesome, i saw the Joint Strike fighter fly at the NAS Fort Worth JRB show. you were at the right place at the right time

  • i understand you censoring it and all but my god, did you have to make it that loud? i have to go clean my pants out now. anyways, cool addition to an already amazing airshow. thats one nice paint job on it.

  • +1

    I agree

  • You know..seeing as they checked everyone so carefully coming into the air show, was all the high-powered mp people really that necessary?

  • As always Steve, great job. Are you going to be up at Rhode Island?

  • why was Eagle (USPP) @ the show? lol

  • I must have gotten there a couple hours after this, but having been stationed there I can tell you, EVERYTHING gets locked down when the Pres flies in and out. We could have hornets (I was with VMFA-321 when it was there) fueled and turning ready to go, VAQ-209 could have their prowlers ON the taxi way, and the 113th could have 16s at the EOR ready to pull pins, and everything would absolutely stop, ramp cleared, for Marine 1 and AF 1 to do their thing. Was annoying, but kinda neat at the same.
