My dad and I got an old hay elevator off of craigslist and converted it into a wood conveyor for firewood. We have a decent amount of space for firewood but it always seems like we need to move it far from where it is split, no problem anymore. Plus between this and my ]wood wrapper (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iC7gD_19bKc) my campwood sales should increase this year and I can be more efficient.
Conveyor is 26' long and approximately 13' high on the top end. It went together faster and easier than we thought. Put a coat of black rustoleum on it and just need to wire in a switch and it will be 100%. It ended up being balanced just right, you can easily lift the motor side and wheel it around. I may add some handles down there eventually. This was made with mostly free materials, the only things bought new were the wheels and hardware, metal was free from a friend, wood was extra.
I have an old grain elevator that was used to put loose grain into 6 thousand bushel government bins. it is on the short side and has a low hour kohler gas engine for power. should be ideal to load firewood into a small tilt bed truck with tall sides. the tough part is dropping sections of firewood end first onto a wood truck bed. until you get a layer on the bottom it can make a loud noise

Nice job converting and customizing. Much better than lifting the wood 13 feet!
