On a wet, muddy field (the Jets complained about the Dolphins' decision not to place the tarp over the field before the game), the Dolphins defense held Jets quarterback Richard Todd to only 15 of 37 completions for 103 yards and intercepted 5 of his passes. Linebacker A.J. Duhe led Miami to a victory with 3 interceptions, scoring a 35-yard touchdown and setting up the other Dolphins score. Miami held the Jets to 139 total yards and forced 5 interceptions. The game was scoreless until the third period when Duhe intercepted a pass from Todd. Aided by an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty on the Jets, the Dolphins advanced to the New York 7-yard line where Woody Bennett rushed into the end zone for a touchdown. Then early in the final period, Duhe intercepted a screen pass and returned it 35 yards for the game-clinching touchdown.

  • @Jonwood74 Miami beat the Jets 3 TIMES that season (lol)...they didn't need a tarp to tan NY's hide :)

  • @718World Worse than the Chargers of 94. Boy I don't know bout that. 62 Dolphins almost won that SuperBowl too. Lead in the 4th. quarter.

  • i remember this game the dolphins 14 the jets 0 however the dolphins lost the super bowl to the redskins in January of 1983

  • I jumped out of my skin after this. When the Redskins beat my Phins,I always thought we'd be back multiple times.Dead....wrong!

  • @Dactuck I grew up in Chicago.....We were in wisconsin at a ski resort.....I went over to the bar for 5 minutes and this play happened. Never saw an interception like that

  • @jojopuppyfish Right back at you. AJ Duhe? I grew up in Astoria, Queens, and cried like I lost my best friend. The Sack Exchange gave me hope. Then, it was lost.

  • @4736dmr Yep.

  • I remember exactly where I was when I saw this play......couldn't believe it then.

  • @7mikethebike Spoken like a true jets fan. Those were the days. Don Strock, Richard Todd. I admired Todd, he had a backbone of steel. So did Joe Furguson (bills), and Steve Grogan (patriots). What has it come to? No more Orange Bowl 98k sellouts. No more Shea Stadium....and FEZZ at the jets QB. Even the 70s show couldnt pull that off. Those great and even legendary programs have been driven into the ground by corp A holes. Even the famous Lions Honolulu Blue is replaced by FORD BLUE. OUCH!

  • @graciemaemarie11 you are stupid. Both teams didn't have the same strong and weak characterisitics. You and a fur seal can both be held underwater for 8 minutes- you both have to breathe air, right? It is fair. You prevaricating slime. tell your lies to your loved ones. that's probably what you do anyway.

  • @kevingthompson14 miami cheated. Every knowledgable person knows that.
