  • Have you ever seen the Hoover decade with the dust cup because my grandmother has a decade with a dust cup but it is loud as heck every time I use it I have to put in ear plugs because it is so loud

  • @MrSpanglersean Actually, I have a Decade 800 with the dust cup - just haven't gotten around to making a video yet. It's no louder than this 800. Maybe the fan in your grandmother's is chipped or cracked making it vibrate? Or the brush roll bearings could be going bad.

  • is it cloth-bagged?

  • @vacguy99 It has a cloth outer bag, but still uses the paper filter bags. I do have another 800 that I found that has a permanent cloth bag and a removable dust cup, though.

  • is heavy duty the same as commercial

  • i don't think so. I think Hoover also had a commercial model. I really don't even know why the Decade 800 would be considered "heavy duty", as it's basically a Decade 80 that's a bit newer. Although, I don't know what makes a Sanitaire "commercial" other than it has the shake-out bag...

  • @general0ne Can you make a video of it?

  • Yours makes the loud noise too, when you push the handle down, and raise the hood. When I had the model U4119, it made a loud noise like that. What is that?

  • My '89 decade 800 has the 6.5 amp motor, probably changed when 80 became 800 in 1988. The decal may be missing due to a possibly changed out base at one time, my experience with a sanitaire sc888. Also your brushes should be red so I'm thinking they've been changed out also, explaining why they are still in excellent condition.
