well, you can't compare them, from their first single onwards they were as much a vocal harmonie group as they were a surf rock band, and dennis wilson could play some mean solos, especially live, and their miserlou isn't as bad as you would believe it to be.

Somebody once told me that the original demo for this song was over 15 minutes long, and it was nothing more than this simplistic riff. Of all the instrumental tracks out there, i.e. Duane Eddy's "Rebel Rouser," and the Champs' "Tequila," I think this one has one of the coolest drum soloes. Who's with me?
