EDIT October 31st: Today, October 31st, 2010, Courtney Burnette also passed away at age nine. Rest in peace, Courtney. Our prayers are with her family.

EDIT August 20th: Samuel Gordon Bish passed away on August 20th, 2010, making it now 8 children in this video who have passed on. We send our condolences to the Bish family. Rest in peace, sweet Sam

These are the devastating odds. They are hard to hear and difficult to watch...but they are the truth, the reality that so many families are facing in their sons, daughters, nieces, nephews, grandchildren, brothers, and sisters. Cancer is hitting children. It is destroying their precious bodies, breaking apart families, causing families to go into bankruptcy, causing siblings to lose their brother or sister, parents to lose their children, kids to lose their childhood... So what will we do? We will stand up to cancer. We have to say "NO MORE!" We must work for a cure, all together, until getting cancer is no bigger a deal than getting a common cold. We must do it...for these children.

Here is a list of the children in this video and their websites to learn more about them:

  • My son Dodge is in this video at 1:59. He is one of the unfortunate ones who lost his battle with this ugly disease. Dodge went to heaven 07/22/10. He will be forever 4. As ugly as cancer is, it needs to be brought to peoples attention. People don't realize how Childhood Cancer is becoming less and less rare. Most money for cancer goes to research breast cancer and other common cancers, but not enough funds are going to research childhood cancers. This needs to change. Spread the word!!

  • @fsuemt I agree with you. Dodge was such a handsome little boy, and his story is an inspiration to me and I know to many others. I am so very sorry for your loss, and keep your family in my prayers every night. The world will be spread. We are the end of childhood cancer...we will end it for your son and for the all too many children like him. Rest in peace, sweetheart.

  • Our daughter, Alena Marek is in this video. Thank you for bringing attention to this fight and honoring our beautiful 10 year old girl. She is a wonderful child! Five months ago she was diagnosed with stage4, group4 Rhabdomyosarcoma, and we were devastated. Yesterday her scans were clean of cancer and she is officially "in remission". Thank the Lord! We have prayed day & night for her and cried just as often.

  • @jimcarolmarek I had just read your update on Alena! Praise God for those clean scans. What a beautiful, wonderful miracle. Alena and your entire family will continue to be in my prayers and the prayers of so many others. I hope that Alena forever remains in remission and will be cured forever! Love you all!

  • Thank you for the nice comments. Please pass this video around... Post it on your Facebooks, your Twitter accounts, send it to your friends. So many people are NOT aware of these devastating odds facing our children. It could be your child, your sister, your brother, your granchild, your niece, your nephew, or your friend. Do it for the kids!

  • R I P Courtney

  • Sam Bish is my brothers best friend. He is the strongest person I've ever met! We love you sam!!!!

  • Olivia Haveri and her family are close friends of mine from church. She is in this video at 2:38. On 7/5/10, Olivia was diagnosed with Stage 3 Burkitt's Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma. As of 9/1/10, just 2 months after diagnosis and 4 rounds of chemotherapy, Olivia is in remission. We thank God every day for the miracle that Olivia is, but we know that not every child is so lucky.

Olivia still has one more round of chemo that is protocol for her cancer. To see updates follow @PrayForOlivia on twitter.

  • One of the kids in this video Sam Bish passed away on the 20th of August and Gage is home on hospice care.
