Finding an Apartment in LA in 1 Day (12/4/2010)

We can't move to LA if we don't have a place to live. So we flew out Friday night after work, looked at about 30 places on Saturday and signed a lease on Sunday before flying back home and going straight to work on Monday.

As easy as the above sounds, a lot of preparation work went into making this happen. First things first, "How do you know where to start looking if you live in NYC?" Well we started by signing up with Westside Rentals (www.WestsideRentals.com) and started looking at places that were in our projected budget. Then Brianne mapped out the safer locations and searched for places in those areas. After finding a bunch of places we really wanted to see we waited until a few days before our trip and then set up as many appointments as we possibly could. After the appointments were laid out we mapped out each location and scheduled how much time we had to drive from one place to another.

Finally after a looong day of looking at places we found one that "Felt Right" and asked the landlord to meet us again. We then negotiated the rent price down a bit, showed him our previous pay stubs and presented copy's of our credit reports (All of which was printed and ready to be presented before we left from NY. We got the credit scores from www.freecreditreport.com) And the last thing we did was create a list of all previous damages so that they were on file and could be fixed by the time we moved in.
