50 years a go, in much of the country, African Americans could not use the same bathroom, eat at the same restaurants, or stay in the same hotels as whites.

In 1955 a young African American teen, Emmett Till, was brutally murdered in Money, Mississippi for allegedly flirting with a white girl. The perpetrators were acquitted by an all-white jury.

50 years later, we have an African-American president.

We've come a long way in 50 years.
