Video submission by team Aeroflux from Mississauga Secondary School for WindENG 2011. WindENG is an annual high school engineering competition held at the University of Guelph. Teams come across Ontario to compete in power generation (Watts) and show off their designs.

The filming of this video started from October and was completed in April. A total of 1600+ still shots were taken and played at 10 fps. It was a great and challenging journey since we had to both build and film at the same time.

"Design improvements 2011"
Our design is an improvement on our 2009 symmetrically rotating model, we spent the majority of our design efforts in improving the gear structure and toning down our gear ratio from 64:1 to 16:1. Furthermore we spent greater effort in improving the aesthetic appeal of the project, as this was the concern of some of the judging panel.

"Video inspiration"
Many of our team members have been interested in stop motion as a hobby, they saw the video requirement as an excellent opportunity to practise their interest. After seeing some of their previous work the team was convinced that the theme of our new video should involve stop motion. Furthermore we thought it would be cool to show off our school within the video and to show the development process in a structural way. From these perspectives emerged our current video.

  • I am sorry for the missunderstanding. The main issue from your perspective is that we "stole" your contra -rotating idea from windeng 2010, but the thing is, we are using the same design we used from windeng 2009 but built with improvements, check description ...
