It's unfortunate that Truman allowed our troops to be withdrawn too quickly from post WWII Korea. Not long after our troops abandoned SK, North Korea invaded and occupied S Korea, Truman decided to send troops back to Korea (in a "police action" against "bandits").
30,000 Americans died in the next 30 months in Korea. If we had kept troops in SK for a longer time after WWII, fewer Americans would have died.
