I may be wrong but this song seems to be about his struggle with depression. After a night of recourse with lady midnight and her demands for all or nothing, he finally walks into the morning (a new beginning). Realizing that her demands were to great and fearing she lost her grip on him she calls out after him in vain, you've won me my lord which he sings repeatedly suggesting that as he walks away she fades back into the night. But this is only my impression of his very thought provoking lyric
