In Haiti, poverty has fueled a crime wave. Officials say there are around 40 kidnappings a month and probably many more that go unreported.

Mike Kirsch takes at look how Haiti is gripped by security fears, and why police can do little about it.

  • these slaves, got their freedom a long time and look what they have done to their own country. they cannot even grow their own food.

  • Titid is no longer in Haiti, he is part of the past, and the country doesnt have any time to waste by looking back, it needs to look forward, to move in that direction. As someone who works in law enforcement, I can state that 7500 police officers for a country roughly the size of Maryland, with the population of NYC is woefully inadequate. Haiti needs more than 7500 street patrol officers alone! Ideally, a competent, professional force that totals 30,000 would then impact the kidnapping plague

  • @hammerandnails777 Totally agree with you.

Only God can heal their problems but they have to call out to him.

    Cheers!

  • @tijuanaoriginal cuba is as poor as haiti. the u.s just don't have the right to go to cuba and take ugly pictures and videos like they do in haiti.

  • Look what the US had made to Haiti!! Haitian Poverty is organized by the World Bank, the IMF to subsizide the US -Arkansas peasants und the insecurity is backed by the CIA. So shut up with your stupid comments!!!!

  • Agreed! With every new generation, this country gets poorer and poorer. If the US wants to send any meaningful long-term aid, it should be in the form of condoms, birth control and abortion clinics, along with the trained people to administer them.

  • I agree - Paying people to be lazy never works, and they never will as long as you pay them! It is a standard practice of the USA to jump overboard to save the drowing - even if we aren't wearing a life vest ourselves.

Food-Water-Shelter,medical treatment- ok - we gave that- NOW POPULATION control should be a major concern. ((Because you KNOW we will keep sending Food,Water,Shelter- Pwr Plants, Schools, Hospitals.. ect... I would stop after a month or two - but congress wont.

  • @WorkingMotherof2 the US should not take on more losers....we have enough of generational laziness...

  • There has be be common sense. If the USA ..(and we know they will) is going to take this Nation under it's wing, then - Planned Parenthood should be one of the first building to go up. You cannot be starving your 3 kids ... and have 2 more.. it makes no sense. That nation cannot sustain it's population, but each woman has an average 4+ kids.

My heart crys out for the suffering, my mind states facts. USA is a Nation in trouble - we need to help our own as well- or we will be useless next time

  • PLEASE INVESTIGATE

    HAARP

  • Haiti is sick and corrupt from within. Greed had eaten their hearts to some and to others the fear of not having enough. Demonic practices took over the national religion. 85% of them practice vodoo and other despicable abominations. Slave mentality! May God have mercy on them! We pray for them but the facts still stand: corruption, murders, rapings, vodoo, demonic activity, kidnappings, beheadings in the streets and that is only on the surface. I doubt if they will ever recover.

  • Haiti has nowhere to go but UP.
