All the Girls go Crazy about the Way I Walk -- Climax Jazz Band
This is one of these tunes which came from the revival period of New Orleans in the forties and was recorded by Bunk Johnson and George Lewis. I played this tune already in the fifties when I had a band together with banjoist Jack Vincken in the Netherlands. Both of us moved to Canada in in the sixties and were members of the Climax Jazz Band in 1971 Of course it was always one of these tunes that we liked. Bassist Chris Daniels, originally from England, was familiar with the lyrics and it became a popular tune in our repertoire. In this version we also give our guest drummer a chance to shine. Graham Scriven, a professional drummer from England, would make an annual trip to Toronto to visit family and he was always a very enjoyable and skilful addition to our hardswinging rhythm group.
In the band: Bob Erwig cornet, Len Gosling trombone, Ian Arnott clarinet, Jack Vincken banjo, Chris Daniels bass and Graham Scriven drums.
This was recorded in 1986 during a performance at Toronto's Harbourfront Jazz Club.
