This is just sick!! Appelgren is 47 years old and Ovtcharov is ranked 15 or something in the world. Appelgren really should´nt win!!! But he is very experienced and with that you can come very far!

Mikael Appelgren still competing at age 47 years. Amazing, seems you can't keep a great champion down.

They got old and still play, Chinese, they retire at like 30 or so and coach while they are still near their prime, Europe they are still trying to hang on to some shred of former glory for 20 years instead of passing on their skills.

He actually plays in the swedish elitserie still and does it very well.
He played in bundesliga 9 years ago but since then he hasn't played on a international level.

appelgren reminds me of waldner. their stance when serving and receiving the serve, as well as their movements are almost indentical (except for the fact that appelgreen is leftie)

They have played together with each other for 30 years så that could maybe be the reason.
