  • @folkmusicgirl No, Dr. George is gone from television, but I don't know if he's still alive or not.

  • @nuts4clara

I remember when Dr. George's son was killed in a hunting related accident...but not sure now the details--it was long ago & I think his son was young - maybe in his 20's at the time. Is Dr. George still with KNXT-TV? I really haven't heard anything about him for many many years & didn't even know that he was with KCBS in '96. I haven't heard about his passing so hope he is still alive and doing well. Thanks!

I used to look forward to Jerry Dunphy ( RIP) & Christine Lund as well.

  • @folkmusicgirl That's really neat! =D As I said in another post on this YT video, I met Dr. George at that October 1996 radio & TV fair, and told him about my impersonating him in jr. high. He was working for KCBS(formerly KNXT-TV)as a special correspondent. =)

  • @nuts4clara, You are right, that era is no longer with us. I remember calling the station about an hour before the news started & asked to talk to Dr. George. I was taking a class at that time in aviation/flight attendant job for a small charter airline. We were covering meterology in the class & I called Dr. George to ask a weather related question. They let me to talk to him. I remember he was so polite, so nice and really took the time to answer my questions. Really miss all those anchors!

  • @darrylhaynes I met him in October of 1996 at a Radio & TV festival in the North Hollywood area of L.A. I got his autograph and told him that in jr. high, I had to do a TV newscast for speech class, and that I did a parody of him; if I remember correctly, he was amused by it. =D

  • @folkmusicgirl It was also the era of big name anchors, who people would trust with the news. Too bad that era is no longer with us. =(

  • @DaZINGERMAN Wow, that's neat! If you were growning up in the 1970s like me, you never missed the intro for KABC's Eyewitness News. And thanks for telling us the name of Len Beardsley, KABC's long time staff announcer. And R.I.P. as well.

  • @2nd2nun1 Me too! =D

  • I miss the news actually being news... and not the BS they serve up now..

  • @darrylhaynes Last time I saw Ted Dawson, I was visiting an ex-gf in El Paso, Texas in 1992 and he was on one of the local television stations there.
