I think its because the gems collection version of sonic CD is a port of the PC version rather than the Sega CD version. The PC version used the US soundtrack in every region, even japan and Europe so that could be a reason. The only thing is the Japanese version of gems collection uses the original soundtrack so I guess they must have forgotten or something for the European version or something.

One thing though, why didn't the UK get the JAP soundtrack when Gems Collection came out in the UK like when it first came out on the Mega CD?

I thought every one forgot about Sonic CD it had awsome music and mine for the PC still works! ^^

Yes! Sonic CD - probably one of the best (if not the best) game in the series. I love the opening songs for this game, though I (slightly) prefer the English version's intro song a bit more. Still, both songs are great, and this game just kicks ass so much!
