Goodness I really enjoyed listening to this. I thought all your points were made with great observation and it was actually very interesting to in fact stop and think about what Meyer might have done well instead of perpetually getting caught up in the overarching flaws of the book.

@ambiman101 thanks. people's reactions to books, especially hyped up books, tend to be all or nothing. Its better to look at every book as having good and bad points and take the time to think about what you are reading.

Don't you just love those situations where you go off on a rant and it spiders on to 2 or 3 other topics and somthinge in your brain goes: "Whoa!, how did we get here"?

I found a similarity in the Harry potter book Deathly Hallows. The ending seemed rushed and just thrown together. More or less I think just to get the book released to make the quick sale.

It's random... like The hitchhikers Guide to the Galazy by Douglas Adams.

lol. Yes, exactly. I actually havn't read Hitchhiker's Guide but I feel like I have because my brother practically quoted the whole book to me. I like random when its done well but very few people can do it well.

@L2b1serval I agree, I think in general we prefer to either love or hate something. When there's a lot of expectation resting on a book, we seem to channel all this excitement towards some exaggerated perception of it and there is a certain pleasure that comes from finding a successful author to be not all that great. There are very few things that are invariably negative, yet we se seem to be on a crusade to finding them.
