--

A boy on a train with a birthmark on his forehead
Listening to language tapes, and all he hear is birds
Everyone laughs, 'cause he brings his own chair to the office
Convinced that the cushions will give him sturdier thighs

The muscles of the intellectuals are atrophying
Nobody's running, nobody's hiding
They're lit by a light that isn't even the sun
Lit by a light that isn't even the moon

Ave, Ave, Ave, Ave Maria
Ave, Ave, Ave, Ave Maria
Ave, Ave, Ave, Ave Maria
Ave, Ave, Ave, Ave Maria
Maria
Maria
Maria

Now, how many times have I told you not to go there?
How many times have I begged you not to go?
And how many times have you snuck down to that cellar
Just to watch how the roots begin to grow straight up through our floor?

The muscles of the intellectuals are atrophying
Nobody's running, nobody's hiding
They're lit by a light that isn't even the sun
Lit by a light that isn't even the moon

Ave, Ave, Ave, Ave Maria
Ave, Ave, Ave, Ave Maria
Ave, Ave, Ave, Ave Maria
Ave, Ave, Ave, Ave Maria
Ave, Ave, Ave, Ave Maria
Ave, Ave, Ave Maria
Ave, Ave, Ave Maria
Ave, Ave, Ave Maria
Ave, Ave, Ave Maria
Ave, Ave, Ave, Ave Maria

  • If Regina sold an album of nothing but her bird sounds, I'd buy it. :P

  • The clopping clacking noises at the end woke up my cat. I use a similar noise to call her for her food. lol

  • her new album comes out 6 days before my birthday. hopefully someone gets it for me.

  • I often tear up when I hear this song because of how wonderfully calming it is.

  • Regina is so full of inspiration!

  • The way she sings the words; birds, office, thighs, moon and cellar. She melts my heart

  • I heard the opening line and I was like "Harry Potter?!"

    But uh, Nope.

  • Hard to believe she speaks Russian ...she'd have you convinced she was born somewhere in Brooklyn. Her voice has such intonation, nuance and clarity...as if from the gods.

  • The clopping noise she makes in the end make me feel all comfortable and warm :D

  • @Lilyfloss lucky...

  • Each time I listen to this song, I cannot even get out of my chair afterward. She melts me with her soothing voice that just penetrates into my deepest parts. I listen to so many other artists and I am so impressed by their huge talent. But every time I return back to listen to Regina I realize how great she really is. Just like Prince wrote and Sinéad O'Connor made popular, the words "Nothing Compares to You" might as well have been written about Regina.

  • I love this song. It has to be one of my MOST favorite ones.. If you can even pick a favorite of Regina's. :D Can someone please explain to me what this song means?
