  • Tobacco Eugenics ; )

  • @NewWorldOmagh LOL, YES! Only the strong will be selected for life, the weak will be "recycled" and fed to the strong. If tobacco plants could watch movies they would be horrified at this Sci-fi scenario.

  • Thinning your plants with tweezers? Let them grow and thin them out by hand when they are more mature. Tweezers? Geez

  • @Moralvorstellung7 You could let them grow out, but remember these are very small to begin with and there are a lot of seedlings per cell. They will quickly crowd one another and their root systems will intertwine.

If you wait to thin them out you will need to scissors in lieu of pulling them: if you pull one, you will probably pull them all out.

  • I'm 15, and very interested to grow exotic plants, only for decoration and learning about them. Is it legal 15yo to buy any nicotiana seeds, and grow them? I don't smoke tobacco, or use any other intoxicants.

  • @JauhoPeltola Check out the my response to "luckyclover" below who had a similar question. Legality with tobacco doesn't come into play until you have a smokable product in hand which is a long and intensive process, (we will cover this in future videos). But if you are 15 you would definitely need parental permission first as the plants themselves will take up a considerable amount of room in your flower garden, which your mom may not be willing to give you. :)

  • I was wondering if on top of the fridge would be warm enough for germination as I don't have great access to my water heater its mounted high in a cabinet (And I'm short lol).

  • @JauhoPeltola Your not the only 15yo.

  • @SurfMonkeyCoconut keep only the healthiest and strongest plant out of the bunch!

Again its just a matter of time, and how valuable you perceive it to be. If you have lots of time to kill, you could sow 1 at a time, personally id rather waste a few seeds to save myself a week's worth of time.

  • @ramseydarkstar You could start with less seeds if you really want to grow these sparingly. However we sell these in packets of 500 seeds so you will have more than enough for the season, germination rates go down every year if there are any left overs. We typically recommend about 7 seeds per cell, this year we had a 99% germination rate! So per cell, you'd get about 7 sprouts! Even so, it is more worth your time to have too many sprouts than none at all, it also gives you the option to...

  • @ramseydarkstar Because you'll get about one million of seeds from one flowering plant.
