I can do that to my cat but make it go up the wall and then turn the light off at the top. He will sti there and watch it for up to half an hour at times until we come back. Great way to keep them amused...though usaly distracting them is a good idea. I'm sure staring at a wall isn't good for the eyes.

Maybe you should do it once a week for a weekly exercise for the cats? That'll make them healthy. I need to do this to my cat so he'll get some leg exercise.

Thanks for the advice. Actually, as fun as this is, we've stopped using the laser pointer with our cats, because Bartleby (black and white one) gets waaay over excited and freaked out. It seems liek he actually forgets to breath and by the end he's panting like crazy and all kinds of tweaked out! So we put a stop to it.
