Tesla Testdrive

My 15 minute Tesla Roadster test drive on Skyline in Woodside in June.

This is the Tesla Roadster VP (validation prototype) 013, which is a preproduction unit with lots of engineering hookups. The final production units are much neater inside, do 0-60 in 3.9 seconds, and have a 220 mile range. All with a 53kWh LiIon battery pack. No gas, no carbon emissions.

c'mon people, for god's sake, is there someone who can actually drive and has the slightest amount of balls to test this car properly? like on a track or up hill/down hill, who is able to push it to the limit, see how it behaves in corners and shit?

..this is frustrating the hell out of me.

That was the first time I ever got to even sit in the car, so I was a bit hesitant about pushing it. I did a second drive a couple of weeks ago, a little more to the limit, but the camera ate the video.

There's a limit to what us pre-owners can show you since we are just borrowing a prototype car to drive on the streets. Maybe a new owner will get out on the track and push it. Especially nice would be with a unit with the latest 1.5 single-gear drivetrain.

Yes. Essentially all electric cars are eco-friendly, since they are far more efficient than internal combustion petroleum engines, and nearly all mass electric power sources are cleaner than any portable fuel burners.

It has a 220 mile range on 53 kWh of charge, which is equivalent to about 1.5 gallons (6 liters) of gasoline.

One morning, just as I turned north out of Las Cumbres onto Skyline, I crested a hill and found a redwood had fallen across the road. I hit the brakes and headed for the thinnest , top branches and stopped before I hit the tree trunk, started to get out and saw a power line lying across my hood (no kidding). I backed out from under the tree and the power line. One friend killed on Skyline, two others had their cars wrecked by deer. Head for a track to test that baby.

Just goies to proove, if you want to enjoy a test ride, don't take your wife! Would be far more enjoyable.
