Dr Tahir-ul-Qadris philosophy is one of inclusiveness and providing support to the oppressed of society. He recognises that there is not a more oppressed segment of society, particularly in Pakistan and sub-continent, than women. Women in many areas have traditionally been seen as second-class citizens, devoid of rights and privileges, and completely subservient to men. Dr Qadri, uniquely for such a prominent scholar of Islamic sciences, has been at the forefront of championing the rights of women and ensuring their complete participation and involvement in the social, material, technological and ethical progress of society. Through his teachings, publications and organized efforts he has made a significant contribution to the betterment of womens social and material standing in Pakistan.

Minhaj-ul-Quran was probably the first Islamic organisation in Pakistan to formally permit the involvement of women and positively encourage their participation in all its activities. The organisation has a separate wing for women of all ages, and the women coordinate this wing independently and with full freedom. This allows them to feel empowered and organise their activities with full confidence, and provides them with the opportunity to develop their skills and abilities in order to take a full and active part in their society. The womens wing of Minhaj-ul-Quran has thousands of members and holds cultural, spiritual and educational events and festivals, to which they invite various intellectuals, politicians, prominent guests from society or government officials. The main themes of these events are: to build bridges between different communities and create peace and harmony between them, to educate women, especially of low socio-economic status, of their rights and inculcate in them self-respect, confidence and pride in the significant role they play in creating a peaceful and progressive society, and also to provide them with positive role models to follow. Women from Minhaj-ul-Quran are now taking part in welfare and humanitarian projects in Pakistan and abroad; political activities; TV and radio broadcast projects to highlight their rights and promote religious moderation and spiritual endeavour; social and cultural projects, interfaith dialogue conferences, different educational projects as well as self-development and character building events and workshops.

According to Dr Qadri women enjoy the same rights as the men do in Islam. There is no gender inequality for which man may be justified to exploit, subdue or overshadow women in different walks of life. They play a significant role in shaping the human society into a coherent, peaceful and dignified community. The women rather perform better than men and produce better results. Islamic Sharia does not anyway deny any of their rights and the conservative view is not based on true spirit of Islamic teachings. That is why we see that women have always been in the forefront along with the men while working for achieving the objectives of MQI at local as well as global level. He has opened schools, colleges and University for their modern and scientific education with co-education system. From the very beginning Dr Qadri has made women fully involved in MQI struggle at all levels. The women are members General Council, Central Working Committee, Central Executive Council and all the various forums of MQI. They have their representation even in the Supreme Council and are part of the decision making process at all levels.

One of the extraordinary examples of Dr Qadris regard for womens rights and his promotion of their elevated position in society as male dominant as Pakistans is his open pronouncements in respect of matrimonial relations that under Islamic law women have equal if not more rights than their husbands. These have been transmitted via his TV lectures to millions of people the world over. He has declared that husbands do not have any claim on the income of their wives, as this is their sole entitlement, but at the same time wives have rights on the income of their spouses. In a society in which many women are regarded virtually as household slaves, Dr Qadri clearly declares that according to Islamic law, there is no obligation on women to undertake the household chores and that men have no right to expect their wives to cook, clean, entertain for them, but if they do so out of their good will and nobleness this must be appreciated by the men. He further highlights that husbands have a duty to assist their wives in the house-work if the wives decide to do it. He has also spoken out openly and vehemently against domestic violence and forced marriages, which he regards are contrary to Islamic teachings and a gross violation of human rights
