Lisitsa's is dreadful. The perfect example of how not to play it. Scarbo is exciting, even frantic at times, but it is not Rachmaninov, which Lisitsa doesn't seem to understand. There is no restraint in the performance. She has no conception of the subtelties of the piece. It's not as if she is incapable of being sensitive: some of her Liszt playing is mesmerising. Argerich's for me is second only to Perlemuter's.
As phenomenal as this performance is, have you heard her live performance of her playing in Amsterdam? It's from a 2 volume set and it surpasses this in color, adrenaline and sheer virtuosity. (in my opinion) :)

Still, this is unbelievably great playing!
