Beijing in China by car, a beautiful city of China with more than 20 millions inhabitants, very clean and great organization, everything, signs and indication s in English and Chinese. City is A beautiful, easy and modern city, many young guys with an incredible future potential. I'm understand why they did the 2008 Olympic games.
Beijing offers GREAT FOOD, fresh fruit all the time, excelent small TOMATOES, an incredible DUCK dishes, many plates, very simple and many options for world people.
The Great Wall of China very close (an hour driving) the forbidden city very close in Beijing, the Tianamen square, Mao, teather, Chinese opera,... the easy shopping way, from silk market to luxury Chinese products..

"Beijing" means "northern capital", in line with the common East Asian tradition whereby capital cities are explicitly named as such. The city has been renamed several times. what's beautiful about that? it's big with lots of modern roads and building but it's sad that people consider that as beauty, Prague is beautiful, Vienna is beautiful...Dubai, Shanghai, Beijing and other big concrete jungles are just that, concrete jungles, unpleasant to live in if you have references to compare with, on the other hand if you've never been anywhere else than you might consider huge highways and 500m buildings beautiful

I do understand your view point... new cities are very big... the news shown us only the "Concrete Jungle's side" of those cities... but Beijing has a beautiful sides (many) a lot of green, the great wall it's very close,... the old Beijing so nice,... it was the Olympic city some years ago... The world it's beautiful because it's DIFFERENT, and i love that, take care
