This is a nice example of a two horn trumpeter clock made by Gordian Hettich Sohn a Furtwangen maker. He was the biggest manufacturer of these "blower style" trumpeter clocks.
The movement has a additional lever that intermittently causes one of the notes to flutter creating a more complex call.

We also have a new book being released in June 2012 titled "Rare and Unusual Black Forest Clocks" this comprehensive text is a must have for anyone interested in Black Forest horology. Additional details on our website.
My favorite kind of Black Forest clocks are the trumpeter and organ clocks!

Very nice Justin. Thanks. I also notice a strip of wood over the bellow tops to make the bellows go down again presumably. A good complete example.
You may remember I had a large mantel 3-horn one. I don't think it was signed, brass plate. A potential bidder asked if anything from the top of the case was missing, but I had no idea. I suspect there was a top cresting part missing but, judging from any tell-tale holes (camouflaged or otherwise), there was nothing to report.
