Using and setting up synthesizer and sampler VSTs in REAPER:

1) The long way - Manually setting up all tracks and I/O

2) The fast way - Letting REAPER do it all for you.

Skip to 6:30 for the fast way, but please at least become somewhat familiar with the I/O window in order to better understand REAPER's bus/send structure.

  • can i do group channel and make insert presets ??

  • @Cutrexxx I'm not quite sure what you mean by "group channel", but if you're talking about buses, you can parent any track to any other. Effects and track settings will propagate to the child tracks.

You can make any track, any effects chain, or any group of tracks into a preset. Ctrl+S within the FX window for effects, and rightclick--> Save Tracks As Track Template for tracks.

  • Why the heck would i need multiple audio/MIDI tracks to get polyphony on ONE synth?

  • @Henkera Good question, simple answer is that you'd need it for using multiple audio outputs or multiple MIDI channel inputs*. If you're talking polyphony as in playing more than one note at a time, then no, you don't need multiple outs and can have your MIDI track and your synth track be one and the same.

    * (Actually, you can get fancy with assigning individual notes to different channels, but there's no real reason to. It's just an ancient legacy feature of GeneralMIDI)

  • And even from the beginning. "Select your synthesizer". What are you talking about, dude?

  • I went straight to the fast way, and I have no idea what you clicked at all. Can you help me with that?

  • Im using my laptop , And i put Recording Monitoring: ON and still no sound -____-

  • anybody got a clue how id sample on this

  • @ButtyNutter Last time i checked, this tutorial was free. It's not nice to bitch at people for going out of their way to try to help other people for free. And this tutorial is on how to use this specific software. I think he does assume that you have experience in other similar programs. I thought that this was a well layed out, easy to understand tut. It is your lack of knowlege that prevents you from understanding this. Good day sir.

  • @ShinnyMetal

You forgot that this is a TUTORIAL not an ADVANCED TUTORIAL. If somone is "already experienced in this shit", then they don't need a tutorial. My argument is valid.

Shinny, try trolling the chat rooms - you get faster responses.

  • @ButtyNutter

These are for people who already have a experience in this shit. They are rather informative and not for dipshits who don't know wtf they are doing. l2makemusic and if you don't have the plugin then dont bother watching the video.

  • Oy, these tutorials are getting really useless. You keep using plugins I don't have! On top of that you don't tell me I can just use some random plugin for the FX. My god, at least show me that I can start making sounds right away with the damn virtual keyboard - it only takes one key shortcut to get it: ALT-B. In the menus:View->Show Virtual MIDI keyboard.

    Dear author:

Boring, you need to spice it up a little by letting people play with the program and hear some sounds!Virtual Keyboard!

  • @hyperliteBo nevermind, saw your next video xD

  • But wait... I really do not understand how I can write my notes, like I can do with EZdrummer....
