I made this short film recently. Its about charity in Indonesia.
-------------------
Indonesia.. The Largest Muslim Country in the World
Islam was peacefully introduced to Indonesia in the 13th century through Yemeni merchants from Hadramout. During the mid-16th century European interest began to grow in Indonesia in the race to control spice trade. Holland won the race, occupied the land, and by the 17th century Indonesia became known as: "the Dutch East Indies". The island of Java was turned into a vast plantation for Dutch benefit. Real hardship, even starvation, was imposed on the people, but the Netherlands became rich in the process. Then came World War II and the Japanese overran the Islands.

The Dutch tried to return afterwards but the nationalistic movements would not have it, and on 17th August 1945 Indonesia proclaimed its independence.

Indonesia is an archipelago of some 17,000 islands, 6 thousand of which are inhabited. The most famous of them are Java (where the capital Jakarta lies), Sumatra (where the recent tsunami occurred at Ache), Sulawesi, and Bali.

Its population is 225 million, 85% of which are Muslim, the rest a mixture of Buddist, Christian, Hindu and other religions.

40 million of the population live under the line of poverty!

This video demonstrates a small effort to revive these Islands socially and educationally, as well as help them through their repeated hardships, the latest being the famous tsunami earthquake, which was followed by the Yogjarta quake on 2006, which resulted in water and hot mud floods that drowned more than 15 towns and left 15,000 homeless.

  • Hey, hey, what's with the Arab Language spoken there?

No one I know in Indonesia can speak Arab that fluently except the FEW experts..

    I'm an Indonesian, ^^ I can't even read what its saying... :p

And Arab is not used as the language in Indonesia..

I'm saying this so people won't mistake it for being a Muslim Country, it's a country neutral that accepts five religions (Islam, Christianity, Catholic, Buddhism and Hinduis) But just it happens that there are a lot of Muslims in Indonesia.. XD

  • I don't think Indonesia is a moslem country, but Indonesia has the largest moslem population in the world.

  • Arabic is highly spoekn among musloims like indonesia and Arabic language is more compulsory among muslims than the male circumcision in islam, that's the fact.

  • Indonesia has the biggest Moslem population in the world. And Indonesian Moslems are generally moderate, friendly and peaceful; they tend not to be keen on Saudi style feudalistic Islam.

  • Very few people in Indonesia actually know more than a little bit of Arabic or Sanskrit. The national language is Bahasa Indonesia, or Indonesian language. Malaysian is very similar, like Dutch and Flemish. ahimsa!
