emotionally ready to crap? really dude? do you think that the child's psyche is going to be damaged by taking a crap in a plastic potty vs. a diaper then sitting in it all day?

my firend does this with her daughter, and at first i thought it was weird, but the more she told me about it and when she told me that her 13 month daughter is wearing panites to bed and staying dry all night i began to think "wow, wish i would have known about this when my kids were babies" she is not only saving the earth by using less diapers, she is bonding with her daughter and they are learning to understand eachother. My friend her husband and their daughter are AMAZING

@DarkGhost57 Actually most kids on earth don't "sh*t in their pants" in fact, most mothers from the beginning of humanity would take their child to eliminate in an appropriate place and keep them clean and dry. It is totally not natural to wrap a kids butt up in plastic to contain all their fecal matter. Disposable diapers are neither natural nor normal.

I did a version of this with my first son. He did such revoltingly huge and liquid poos that I had to try something. At one month of age I sat him over a little potty after each of his 4 day time feeds and he'd do a poo after about 30 secs on most of the times I put him on. It made it so I could go out again as I could also hold him over the toilet anywhere after a feed! Unfortunately it was no good for my second son who would only go poos once every 3 days!

Stuff like this leads to diaper fetishism.

The anchorman was hilarious!!!! EC or not I will find out in 6 months when I have this baby.

Elimination communication is having a Diaper free (or mostly diaper free) baby.
My son uses the potty most of the time he is 9 months old...only uses cloth diapers when we go out.

@Novasmom08 I'm not sure what EC is, and I don't doubt that. I'm just sayin.....I guess its because I'm American and thats the norm here, but to me its not that big of a deal. The problem is the lazy parents and newer diapers that come out these days that result in kids going into kindergarten in diapers still. If the kid can formulate sentences he probably shouldn't be rockin' the diaps anymore. Till then, let mommy get her hands dirty lmao.

Yes, thats one of the joys of EC You CAN do it part time :)

ROFL....EC is common in a good portion of the world and has been THE norm for most of humanities existence.

How can someone be an "expert" if they have not studied it in countries where is is the norm?

@7946R yes it is possible ! I am a child care provider and have recently decided to only take infants and toddlers who EC . When looking for child care just be up front about your expectations, and maybe some one is out there in your area who can work on this at their home. I know day care centers don't allow it though.
Of course I'm going to comment, I have to Philly girl born and bread. I grew up watching channel 6. Is this really worth it, my daughter is 11 months old and I watch two other girls around the same age, I don't know if I personally could try to tune into mine as well as taking care of the other two. Just a little side note the Philly news is the most watched news in the nation. That's cause we rock.

I think it's worth it. If this interests you, check out the book The Diaper-Free Baby by Christine Gross-Loh. It has lots of practical tips on how to get started.
