Fireworks at the Trocadero, in front of the Eiffel Tower, on Bastille Day, July 14, 2008. Cost to the public: €400,000. And worth every penny!

Just across the Seine from the Trocadero... It's about as close as you can get. Although you can get a more panoramic view (and have the Eiffel Tower in the foreground) from the Champ de Mars
