  • This version of the Palliser's theme music was obviously performed and recorded especially for the dvd boxset issue. Sadly, it doesn't quite have the panache of the original performance.

  • zaprawde milo powspominac...to jakis rok 1977 -1978 szkoda ze nie mozna juz nigdzie tego filmu obejrzec

  • Has anyone got the flip side of the record? Lady Glencora's Waltz, I think it was called.

  • I haven't seen this. I'm just finishing up with Upstairs Downstairs and I'm already looking for the next series. I enjoy the current Masterpiece Theatre, but I am just now discovering all these old series and loving them! I take it this one is as well done as Upstairs Downstairs? Any other gems out there to add to my Netflix queue?

  • Ahh Good memories, back when I actually looked forward to Masterpice Theatre.

  • Starquant - how lovely to receive such a polite, intelligent message from you. Really made my day.....

  • Ohhh, this reminds of babysitting back in the 70s to earn a bit of pocket money and watching The Pallisers on the telly. Happy days....

  • Just bought Rich Man Poor Man book 11 chapters 1--22 the mini series continues.,on DVD. is book 1 available and where do I get it. Loved the show.

  • An exquisite miniseries! The intelligent script and elegant presentation will enchant many viewers.

I enjoyed how stalwart Mr. Palliser and his vivacious wife, Lady Glencora changed throughout 25 years time frame of the series. It helped keep the series believable by showing that along with the pleasant aroma and color of roses in our (their) lives there will be the inevitable sorrow of the proverbial thorns.

Barbara Murray's portrayal of Madame Max Goesler stole my heart.

    Magnificent!
