What really gets me is that most Christians would look at this and say that you are just "misinterpreting " it or taking it "out of context". They always have excuses for their magic book.
@simchamo Oh and you missed an important point here, She is guilty until proven innocent. Her father must present a bloody cloth to the town elders to prove she was a virgin and if he cannot she is presumed guilty. Which is evil and creepy in its own right. (verses 16-18).
Deut. 22:13-21 does indeed advocate the stoning of a non virgin but it does not say marriage is only considered valid if the woman is a virgin. If She represents herself as being a virgin and is found to be lying (this term being rather relative) she is stoned. However there is marriage in the case of a non virgin. Of course the entire point is moot because the idea of stoning women for being dishonest is appalling which was your main point in the first place so... yeah...agreed.
@Netwriter It's only confusing if you don't have a magic fairy voice in your head telling you to just listen to someone else who has interpreted it for you I.E. a priest, pastor, or witch doctor. The bible is easy to understand when you give up all sense of self, reasoning, morality, self control, responsibility, etc......
