Use aluminum foil to wrap food to cook in the woodstove. Get some candles on hand. Use ashes to grip on the ice pathways. Do the dishes, laundry, take a shower and fill the tubs with water. Fill your empty jars with water and some buckets for flushing the toilet.

  • I guess this is all relevant now that there are so many without power in the northeastern USA.

  • WOW isn't she awwesome

  • @romancwriter2 /curtseying I should say I try, but I really don't! LOL. I love you being in my life! You've been here with me for a very long time!

  • I like the ash idea, I keep a couple of metal trashcans that I put ashes in for throwing on the driveway. That also gives them a chance to cool so as not to start a fire in leaves in the woods as it would if you threw hot coals into the woods.

We have occasional power outages here in winter too. Good to be prepared. Love your videos!

  • @GentlemanCampers Why thank you sir!

  • nancy im in nova scotia. we get bad storms here too. when calling for a a bad sttorm i fill bathtub too. we use wood for heat. i do all laundry everyone has shower. check battery supply. i cook stew or other boiled dinner that east to heat on coleman later. homemade soups etc. since my stroke i carry mini light in my pocket just in case. ...we use ashes on ice here too.

  • here in oahu hawaii if our power goes out, we make hibache cooking over open fire in our back yard, steak, portuguese sausages, then we boil water and make instant ramen noodles, pork and beans in a can, were set all and is happy....except i worry bout my refrigerator foods goin bad.......LOL

  • @kimmer6 LOL! You are a riot! What a hoot!

  • Hi Nancy. I like your videos! We lose power a lot in my area. I built a battery powered automatic emergency system to keep things humming, like the fridge, freezers, toaster oven. 2000lbs of cell phone tower batteries and 2 big inverters give me days of power with no generator. When the neighborhood goes dark, I turn on every light I can find, play Innagadadavida on the stereo while I vacuum the upstairs bedroom with the windows open so the neighbors can watch. Does this make me a rat?
