American Red Cross Law Enforcement Hero, 2012, Officer Elliot Rose of Campton Hills

During a shift on August 28, 2011 Officer Rose responded to a motorcycle accident in Maple Park. The motorcyclist had severed his leg and was bleeding profusely through his femoral artery. Through training, limited resources and ingenuity, Officer Rose was able to stop the bleeding and save the life of the victim using only an ink pen and piece of gauze.
