This is my 4 year old son who has been diagnosed with Mixed Receptive-Expressive language disorder. He is currently undertaking speech therapy about once every 3 weeks and is attending normal 4 year old kinder. For my first video of my son go to this link- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wiu43VfNIiI and that has information about MRELD. I hope this video is useful for anyone out there :)

  • Thanks to everyone who has posted. He is doing much better with his speech :) The severe speech delay was caused by autism. Almost two years since diagnosis he's doing much better with speech but has trouble with long sentences and understanding. Main areas to look at are his behaviour and social problems. Thanks again!

  • Can you please explain how or where you were able to get your son help for his disorder? My son has expressive disorder as well.

  • @ZachEJT24

Sure, he has really benefitted from Speech Therapy, does wonders how they learn things. Good luck :)

  • I'm not too sure where you're from and how easily you can get access to Speech therapy but definitely look into it. Unfortunately nearly all sessions you have to pay for.

  • @liz185 It depends on where you live. If you send me an inbox message with where you live in the world I could possibly help you out =)

  • @coucouper1 Thanks for the offer. My son now has funding through the government which covers his speech therapy :)

  • how is your son doing now ? my son is now 4 and started at a language development school he is alot further behind than your son is.

  • Awesome video.. always great to here fellow Aussies on youtube... sounds funny after watching so many American ones with American accents LOL

  • Thank you for posting this. My son has been diagnosed with Expressive language delay but I just wasn't happy with that diagnose alone as I felt there was something more to it. After watching this video I am now sure that my son also has receptive delay/disorder. Watching your son (who is very, very cute by the way) is like watching my son! I now know what to do thanks to your post. Thank you so much & all the best!

  • My daughter has mreld and she was diagnosed at the age of 3. It has been 2 years and my daughter has made remarkable progress. She also has articulation disorder. She has come a long way and I use to be the same way. I use to cry at night and get very upset wondering about her future but it takes time and patience. She got a lot better and if you met her you wouldn't even know there was a problem and she still receives speech therapy and I know it will only get better. Good luck!
