  • @ScreamingInAPaperCup I am in the health profession. All bedsores are a sign of neglect and abuse. There is absolutely no excuse for them at all. I have seen them on patients as well as my own family members. Providing the proper mattress, hygiene and turning procedures are major steps that need to be taken to prevent bedsores from occurring. When a person develops bedsores, it is because someone has not been doing there job. You need to do the research. I have done all the research.

  • @haileyalexis709 I personally know someone who is not an elder who has stage 2 pressure sores. Why? Because he sits in front of his computer for way too long, for hours on end.

    Just fyi.

  • Very good video. I often told my students, and other people. Some Elderly are not easy to take care of. You must have a lot of patience, and know to walk away some times. It does not give you the right to abuse anyone at all, as you don't know what you would be like when you get so much older. Unkempt with some. Many would walk around naked, you can may have to dress her about eight times in four hours. Many would prefer to dress like a ragamuffin, than wear their nice clothes.

  • No one has the right to ever abuse an elderly person

but an elderly person never has the right to abuse any one either!!!!

    I don't take sides.

every one feels pain no matter what age or race they are, abuse hurts every one!

  • There is one statement in this video with which I totally disagree. Dr. Mosqueda states that she believes that not all bed sores are a sign of abuse. ALL BED SORES ARE A SIGN OF ABUSE. There is no excuse for pressure sores to happen to anyone - ever.

  • elders abuse other people too!!!!!!!

  • how about don't abuse any one at all?

elders shouldn't abuse any one either!!!

  • comprehensive, concise, and well explained. Thank you.

  • Dr. Mosqueda,

As the owner of Monarch Senior Care, I found this video much more compelling than the standard CNA training video on Elder Abuse. The parts on reporting were exceptionally helpful as that's not really covered in the videos I've seen so far. They just have a phone #. Thank you!

May I use this orientation of Caregivers?

  • Dr. Mosqueda,

Thank you for your continued dedication to Elder Abuse. I have emailed you periodically over the past 6 years trying to get help for my aunt. She passed away in 2006 and I tried to contact you at the Forensic Center and at that time no one was able to help, but watching this video gives me hope that you will be able to help someone.
