First, Davis was knocked out of the game when while battling for a loose ball with 6:23 left in the first half. While falling to the floor, he hit the back of his head on LSU big man Malcolm White's knee. In the second half, though, Davis took another big blow. After making a steal on the defensive end, he was in the clear for a would-be breakaway dunk when White caught him from behind, grabbed Davis by both shoulders and pulled him to the ground before he could attempt the dunk. Davis landed hard and squarely on his back. As he did, his head snapped backward but didn't strike the floor. Referees immediately called a flagrant foul on White and then after conferring decided to eject him from the game with 15:24 remaining. And finally with 4:52 left in the game, Davis was inadvertently hit in the face by LSU's Storm Warren while dunking a Darius Miller miss. The dunk gave Kentucky a 68-44 lead. For several minutes, Davis continued to play but winced frequently and appeared to use his jersey to wipe blood from his mouth.
