Album tournant dans la carrière de Hergé. 25 ans après sa rencontre avec Tchang Tchong Jen, Hergé vit une période difficile et repense à son ami disparu.
Dans les tourments de la guerre, il a perdu sa trace et il aimerait bien le retrouver. Mais il n'y arrive pas. C'est ainsi que Tintin part chercher Tchang dans les confins de l'Himalaya. Dans « Tintin au Tibet », il n'y a pas de méchants, pas de courses-poursuites, ni de folles péripéties. Tout est ramené à l'essentiel. C'est l'album préféré d'Hergé, probablement le plus personnel.

Tintin decides to go and search for Chang, who has disappeared following an aeroplane crash in Nepal. With faithful friends Captain Haddock and Snowy, Tintin sets off on a merciless trek through the Himalayas. This is a particularly interesting book within the Hergé canon as it was written 25 years after the author's meeting with Chang Chong-chen. Hergé had lost all trace of his friend since the Second World War, and transposed his hope to meet Chang again to 'Tintin in Tibet'. There are no baddies or car chases in this profound and moving story of friendship; the narrative is kept bare and essential. This was Hergé's favourite book, and was probably the most personal adventure for the author.
