Josh Royse - Trainwreck

This song is about the evolution of my life and the moral and religious standards I hold myself to. It's about slipping up and owning up to your mistakes to the one entity that matters: God. Whoever and whatever God might be. It's about the horrifying game that western civilization's mainstream Christianity viewpoint has turned God into. I've decided to tear myself out of the politics of being a Christian in a 'Christian' society, and learned to be at comfort with my personal and TRUE pursuit of personal identification and my attempt at understanding and glorifying whatever God may be; not living to meet the Church's twisted and fanatical interpretations of a book written by man. Daddy don't talk with his fists no more. Momma won't leave me alone at the door. But the deepest parts of those battle scars still make me who I am. Yeah I still walk with a wary flinch. I'll trade my pain for the devil's lynch. He said memories die when the bottle's dry so I drank and shook his hand. Damn that day I chose to run from what I know can't be undone. I'm a trainwreck of a dreamer no God aint a believer in me. So take me; leave me; do whatever you want to me I'm a living trainwreck of a dreamer no God aint a believer in me. I found a pretty little girl that put my devil to shame. She cut my noose and set me loose from my prison of pain. In her brown eyes I know I'm alright. Yeah I'm still living, man. She said a man is only worth the steps that he takes straight. So I'm steppin' straight to heaven and I'll kick down the gates. I'll tell the old man I shook the devil's hand and beg for promised land. Damn that day I chose to run from what I know can't be undone. I'm a trainwreck of a dream no God aint a believer in me. Oh that preacher's son found the speck inside my eye. Blind to the planks of his own he built himself a home of lies. And the tracks that he laid became a highway straight to hell. So I thank God for the Devil as my dreamer's train derails.
